Christmas and the holiday season can be a busy and crazy time. This could lead to forgetting to care for your braces and smile. This is a big mistake because lacking in smile and braces care can cause many problems. So, it’s important to keep everything in tip-top shape at this time of year. Our dentist, Dr. James Karhohs, is happy to help you by giving you the tips you need.
– Keep up on oral hygiene: Make sure to brush your teeth after each meal and snack. You should also floss at least once a day. If possible, floss more. Attend your dental checkups every six months, and keep up with your orthodontic appointments.
– Think of your braces during holiday parties: Try to avoid all hard-to-eat and sticky foods as well as sugary and acidic drinks. This can help you avoid breaking your brackets and wires and it can also help you keep your teeth healthy and strong.
– Wear a mouthguard: When you play high-contact sports and participate in high-contact activities, it’s best to protect your teeth and braces with a mouthguard. That way when objects hit your mouth, your smile and appliance can be safe.
